Essential Gear for Every Hunter
What's in my Hybrid Elite Pack for Duck Hunting
Duck hunting is more than just a sport; it’s a passion that takes dedication, patience, and the right set of tools. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a beginner, having the right gear in your pack can make all the difference in your hunting experience. Depending on your hunting situation, the specific gear you need might vary, but here are some basics that every duck hunter should have in their Hybrid Elite Pack, ensuring you're well-prepared for any situation that comes your way.
BEGINNERS MUST-HAVE DUCK HUNTING GEAR LIST
Hunting License and Boating License: Before you step into the field, make sure you have all the necessary permits and licenses. If you're using a boat, a boating registration may be required.
Phone with External Battery Charger: Cold weather can drain your phone's battery quickly. Carry an external charger and cord to stay connected.
Extra Batteries for Electronic Decoys: Ensure your electronic decoys keep working throughout the hunt.
AVES Elite Call Lanyard: AVES offers different drops that allow you to easily detach on the go so you can change out according to the hunt. Practice using calls to attract different species.
Decoy Jerk String: Create realistic decoy movements to lure in ducks.
MAKE YOR HUNT SMOOTHER WITH ESSENTIAL ACCESSORIES
Multi-tool and Knife: Carry tools for basic repairs and adjustments, be sure your knife is nice and sharp prior to hitting the field.
Pocket Saw: Useful for cutting branches or fixing blinds.
Headlamp: A bright headlamp with spare batteries is crucial for early morning or late evening hunts.
Small Dry Towel: Keep your hands dry and clean during the hunt.
First Aid Kit: A compact kit for minor injuries.
Shotgun Shells: With the recent advancements in shotgun shells, we recommend patterning your shotgun prior to the season with different shells, shots and chokes. We prefer the hard hitting BOSS Bismuth shells as they have different sizes and shots that will have you covered no matter the species you are targeting.
Choke Tubes: The most recommended and widely used chokes for waterfowl would be a Modified or an Improved Cylinder Choke.
STAY ORGANIZED AND PREPARED ON YOUR NEXT WATERFOWL HUNT
Duck Hunting Blind Bag: Choosing the right blind bag is crucial for a successful duck hunting experience. Intentionally designed for the waterfowl hunter, the AVES Hybrid Elite Pack is tailored to all hunting styles to ensure that your gear is organized and easily accessible. Depending on the amount of gear that you want to take to the field, you can choose a smaller blind bag or a fully loaded backpack.
Microfleece: Use it to clean your glasses and keep them clear.
Sunglasses: Protect your eyes, especially when positioned against the sun.
Bird Tags, Ink Pen, and Sharpie Marker: Essential for tagging and labeling your kills.
Gloves: Wear work gloves for blind setup and waterproof decoy gloves for icy conditions.
AVES Stratum 50 Facemask: Stay warm and covered, especially on chilly days.
Hearing Protection: Electronic protection allows conversations while blocking loud shots. Foam plugs are a budget-friendly alternative.
Bottle of Water: Stay hydrated during the hunt. Keep a case in your truck for emergencies.
Snacks: Carry energy-boosting snacks, and remember to dispose of your trash responsibly.
STAY FOCUSED ON THE HUNT
Being well-prepared ensures that you can focus on the thrill of the hunt without worrying about missing essential gear. As you gain experience, customize your pack to your preferences and specific hunting locations. Remember, safety and respect for nature are paramount. Happy hunting!
